I have been an academic social sciences and humanities library for over 30 years. As I approach the end of my career, I have begun to feel the ending/beginning of an era in libraries as well. I have been through advent of local online systems, CD-ROM (the new papyrus-right!) mediated online searching and now patron searching. I actually attended a session Sociological Abstracts given by the creators of that tool. Now I am not able to determine its scope and content (ours is the ProQuest Product)!
